AFFILIATIONS
The 4C's is an important part of the broader labor movement, both nationally and in Connecticut. Here's how we relate to other organizations.

SEIU, Service Employees International Union
SEIU is our international union. The international office provides resources to local unions, as well as assistance and direction for major campaigns. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the 1.3 million-member SEIU represents workers throughout the United States and Canada. SEIU is the third largest union in the AFL-CIO. Here in Connecticut, the 4C's is part of the SEIU Connecticut State Council, a coalition of Connecticut-based SEIU locals. Other members of the coalition are the 1199 - Health Care Employees Union, the Connecticut State Employees Association, SEIU Local 760, and SEIU Local 32BJ, the Justice for Janitors local.

Collective Bargaining Coalitions
Our health and pension benefits are negotiated in coalition with all twelve unions representing Connecticut state employees. This coalition is called SEBAC (State Employees Bargaining Agents Coalition).

Our Contract with the Community Colleges is often negotiated in coalition with the other unions representing professionals in the system. These are AFT Local 1942 and AFSCME Local 2480

Other Coalitions
Coalition of Higher Education Unions: From time to time, the 4C's joins forces with the American Association of University Professors AAUP-UCONN and the American Association of University Professors-AAUP-CSU to promote public higher education in the state.

Issue coalitions: The 4C's often works in coalition with other unions and progressive organizations on issue campaigns, such as health care reform, tuition assistance, campaign finance reform, and more.
